Early Life and High School Career

Joel Embiid was born in Yaoundé, Cameroon, on March 16, 1994. His mother played volleyball, and his father played handball; thus, he grew up in an athletic household. Embiid was passionate about soccer throughout his early years, but at the age of 15, he fell in love with basketball.
